Synchronizing raster datasets

When raster datasets are added to an image service definition, all the metadata information, including the footprint polygon, are written to raster process definition (.RPDef) files. However, when you make updates to the footprint polygon or edit some fields in the service table, these updates are not updated in the .RPDef files. If this information is not the same, it is OK, because once the image service definition is compiled, the footprint shapefile is used to provide the shape of each raster dataset footprint, and the attributes specified in the service table are used. But, if you want to use the .RPDef files in another image service, then you need to update this information.

The Synchronize Raster Dataset option allows you to update the .RPDef files with the modifications performed in the service table or the footprint.

The two options on the Synchronize Raster Dataset dialog box are as follows:

Schritte:
  1. Open an image service definition in ArcMap.
  2. Check that the image service definition is displayed in the Layer drop-down list on the Image Service Definition Editor toolbar.
  3. Click the Image Service drop-down menu, point to Advanced, then click Synchronize Raster Dataset.
  4. Optionally, check By Geometry.
  5. Optionally, check By Attribute.
  6. Click OK.
